Thoroughly enjoyed my extended weekend a few days ago - thought I'd share some of what I got up to.
Thursday morning
DSTO, being a Defence body, had an ANZAC service on Thursday morning. I was a little disappointed at how few turned out to attend - maybe 1 in 7? It's only 15 minutes out of your day, people - show some respect! One wonders what was so important that it couldn't wait another quarter-hour - especially considering the general culture of very flexible deadlines that there seems to be here. Hmm.
Thursday evening - Saturday
From the Thursday night to Saturday lunch time, I attended a weekend away hosted by one of the churches I attend - the 7pm service at Holy Trinity Anglican . This was held down at Victor Harbour, so it was nice to be able to see some more of South Australia while down there.
The camp was held in a wonderful spirit - around 70 attended, and were treated to great music, and thought-provoking talks given by Senior Pastor Paul Harrington on the nature of Faith. Campers were challenged to look at what they were putting their faith in, not "how much they had". The theme verse for the talks was Romans 4:21:
"...being fully convinced that God has the power to do what He had promised" (NIV)
Sunday
Very little - still recovering from camp!
So there you have it - my ANZAC weekend. If anyone is interested in the talks from the camp, I believe they will be up on the HT website in the not-too-distant future.
